Meet Recetasdecocina, July’s Partner Success Story
Monday, July 30, 2012
We have loads of partners across Europe that are taking advantage of the YouTube Partner Program, and becoming highly successful on YouTube. We've asked some of these partners to share their experience on YouTube and within the program, and shed light on how to best utilize the platform. This month featured partner is Recetasdecocina, please read on for their story and best practices!
Introduction:
Please tell us a bit about yourself. What is your name, your channel name? Where are you from, your fan base?
We are the channel
recetasdecocina
. Maria is the cook of the channel and myself, Luis, I am mostly making other types of videos such as drawings, home experiments, videos of our dog etc. We are Spanish and more specifically we come from Madrid. The majority of our subscribers are from Spain, Mexico and Argentina.
History
:
Please tell us how it all started. How and when did you start creating videos? When did you decide to be active on YouTube and become a partner? What was your first video on YouTube?
We started with recipes including low-temperature programmed cooking and we thought that was a great idea as there are not many such videos on the internet. Slowly we started enhancing our variety by adding recipes of tarts, pizzas, breads etc. And the videos were gaining more and more views. That’s why we applied to become partners and very soon we achieved the partnership.
Our first video was a recipe of spicy chicken in low-temperature electric cooker. We took great care of our first recipe but unfortunately it didn’t get many views.
Channel
:
Please explain your channel. What's the story behind your channel? How did you come up with your channel concept?
Basically it’s a channel of recipes but it has our own personal touch. One could say that it’s a family channel as it includes videos of home experiments and drawings among other things and it addresses not only to adults who want to cook but also to younger people who are interested in drawing and home experiments and animals.
Each time we are more confident with our audience and we share personal stories, like certain trips we plan to do or visits if we consider that they present a certain interest.
YouTube Partnership:
Please share your experience of being a YouTube partner. How has being a YouTube partner helped/changed your business and personal life? Were there any surprises? What are your plans for the future of your channel and YouTube partnership?
To be a YouTube Partner it’s a dream that came true. It has changed our life completely as now we can focus exclusively on creating videos and doing what we like most.
Our plan is to get more and more involved with our subscribers and follow up by creating more and better videos and collaborate with other partners.
Success
:
How do you define success? How did you become successful on YouTube? What were your goals for your channel, and how did you achieve them? What would you recommend to newbie partners to be successful on YouTube?
We perceive success as being able to do what you like most and being able to make a living out of it. Our goals for the channel are to create more videos on all recipes, improve the quality of the videos and keep our subscribers satisfied. We recommend to the new partners to enjoy what they are doing, to always be themselves and never stop creating more videos. The most important thing is to never give up.
Creative inspiration:
Please tell us what inspires you. Do you have a particular creative aesthetic? Are there other YouTube channels you watch, creators you admire?
Our videos are not aesthetically spectacular but we try to make them easy, short and direct. We watch every type of channel of every different topic. Personally, I really like Jpelirrojo to whom I have subscribed. He is a Vlogger and his topics are really different to ours. However he has inspired me to appear in person in our videos.
Key Takeaways:
Anything you want the YouTube audience to know about you, your channel, or being a YouTube Partner?
Nothing special. I just want to encourage the YouTube users to have a look at our channel and see our different playlists which include many different topics in which they might be interested even if they don’t like cooking.

Introducing the YouTube creator space
Wednesday, July 25, 2012
We’re sure you’ll agree that our YouTube stars are some of the most imaginative and creative around. It is amazing to think that some of the
most
successful
creators
on the platform, with millions of views, use little more than their bedrooms, a webcam and any props they can lay their hands on to produce compelling videos and build a global fanbase.
But many of our partners are ready to take their channels to the next level by using the latest equipment and editing techniques as well as tapping into the valuable advice from other experts and YouTube stars.
With this in mind we’re delighted to announce that in the next few weeks we’ll be opening the doors to our new creator space, housed in the offices of Google London’s Soho office. Our partners from all over Europe, Middle East and Africa will be able to book time in the space to create and collaborate with other creators, learn new techniques, as well as gaining access to state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, to help them generate great new content for their channels.
The creator space is complete with the latest equipment such as DSLRs and cinema cameras, two studios including a green screen and editing suites.
The space will be overseen by the YouTube Next Lab, a team focused on accelerating the growth and development of channels and creators on YouTube. The Next Lab has launched programs like
YouTube NextUp
(now in 11 countries), Creator Academy
and the
YouTube Creator Playbook
. More information on how to book will be posted on our
Creator Hub

Go Simply ‘Bonkers’ With July’s Rising Partner!
Monday, July 23, 2012
Since YouTube’s announcement that we are giving more creators the opportunity to become partners, we have seen a flurry of creativity. We’ve asked some of our new partners to share their experiences with us, in using
our platform and resources to grow their audience, increase views and take their channel
to new heights!
This month, we are looking at Seán Burke, a 20 years old Dubliner who has a unique talent, on which he bases his videos - impressions! His channel,
TheBonkers101
, is made up of videos showcasing his talent in mimicking voices of famous TV & movie characters. It’s attracted thousands of fans to his page - and has paved his way for an exciting career in media.
“YouTube has literally changed my life and sent me down a new career path with amazing opportunities
.”
Since uploading his first video in late 2011, Seán has begun working with a national radio station and a national TV station. He is a prime example of how anyone with a talent and a video-camera can take their creativity - and career - to new heights.
Seán keeps his videos short & sweet, and makes sure he uploads them regularly to both keep his fans happy, and to explore new comic ideas. His channel has now grown to include vlogs, where he discusses different topics every week, to provide users with an even wider range of variety.
The YouTube community has proven to be at the core of Seán’s motivation and inspiration. With the belief that he had something to offer YouTube, and with the support of fellow YouTuber partners and friends, Seán overcome being shy, and worked up the courage to put his talent out there.
“I would encourage the YouTube audience to get involved! My eyes have been opened to the potential for new opportunities and great experiences that can come from uploading YouTube videos.”
Seán also suggests making sure your channel offers unique content, one which isn’t available anywhere else on youTube.
“People appreciate quality and entertaining videos and YouTube provides the platform for it. It would be a shame to waste it”, he says.
Seán, aka
TheBonkers101
, intends to keep uploading videos in the future and begin working his impressions into sketches, and collaborations. He promises that impressions are just the beginning and that he has much more to offer in the future!
“I always took great joy out of entertaining people. Once I got immersed in the YouTube community I loved every second of it. Just go for it! Either on your own or with a group of friends I say create some videos and give it a shot!”
